You guys are amazing! Thanks to VehicleInspectors, I was able to get my dream Tesla! This was my second inspection with them, and even though the first vehicle didn’t work out, I’m so glad I had their team helping me through the process. They kept me informed every step of the way and answered all my questions. Jasmine was absolutely awesome with customer service, and Marc was great too and always quick to respond. I really appreciate how professional, helpful, and communicative everyone was throughout the process. If you’re looking to buy a vehicle and want peace of mind before making such a big purchase, I highly recommend these guys. You all rock!

Where do I begin...top notch customer experience led by team lead Marc Henderson who went above and beyond my expectations for a west coast PPI to locate and assign an equally high performing inspector with impressive credentials and experience named Brock Williams who together were able to coordinate a urgent inspection I presented to them. Other companies attempted, but could not fulfill my request. These Gent's took the challenge and got it done 2 days ahead of my request. Truly an amazing team. Don't hesitate to connect with Marc on your next vehicle purchase inspection, you won't be disappointed!

I used Vehicle Inspectors for a Mazda SUV I was considering buying out of state. The inspection included paint-thickness readings, a diagnostic scan and a road test, and documented minor cosmetic issues and underbody corrosion. Having an independent assessment was really helpful when I couldn’t see the car myself.

“Boy was I nervous at first. Not sure about getting an inspection from these buys but Im glad I did as they found issues wrong with the car I was buying. Thank you Jasmine!”

By adding your card you authorize VehicleInspectors to securely save it and to charge it for this inspection once it is completed. Card details are stored by Square, our payment processor — we never see or keep your full card number.

Your card is saved now — not charged. A hold is placed when an inspector schedules; you’re charged only after the inspection is completed.

The Process

How it works

Three steps. No phone tag.

  1. Step 1

    Book the inspection

Choose your tier, tell us about the vehicle, and pick your venue — we come to the vehicle, or you bring it to your inspector's shop.

    Card saved, not charged
  2. Step 2

A local inspector claims your job

Certified inspectors in your area get a dispatch alert. The first to accept contacts you and books the time — at the vehicle for mobile jobs, or at their shop for drop-off.

Most jobs are picked up fast
  3. Step 3

    Photo-documented report

Full multi-point mechanical and visual inspection — same tier coverage and same report wherever it happens. You get the PDF within 24–48 hours.

    5-day dispute window

Credentials

Who’s inspecting your vehicle

Inspectors in the VehicleInspectors network are vetted automotive professionals and independent contractors. We review credentials and verify insurance coverage before an inspector takes their first dispatch.

Credentials

ASE certification, OEM/manufacturer training, or a state-licensed mechanic credential — verified on file. Many on the roster hold Master Technician (A1–A9) or category-specialist certs.

Insurance

Liability coverage (commercial general liability, commercial auto, and errors & omissions) is verified before an inspector’s first dispatch.

Independence

Inspectors are independent contractors, not dealership employees. They have no financial interest in whether you buy the vehicle — only in telling you the truth.

Your assigned inspector’s name, company, phone, email, and credential appear on your report and in your tracking page. No pseudonyms.

Questions

Pricing & booking FAQ

Everything buyers ask before booking. Still have questions? (888) 923-5890.

Can I bring the vehicle to a shop instead?
Yes. At booking you choose the venue: we come to the vehicle wherever it is, or you bring it to your inspector's shop. Pick shop drop-off only if the vehicle can actually leave the seller — you already own it, or the seller has agreed to release it for the appointment. The price, the tier coverage, and the report are identical either way; shop drop-off depends on a shop-based inspector covering your area, and you get their address and hours as soon as one accepts.
How fast can you dispatch an inspector?
Most inspections are scheduled within 24 to 48 hours of booking. Same-day service is available in select metro areas when booked before 10am local time. You get emailed as soon as an inspector accepts — usually within a few hours.
What's your refund policy if no inspector accepts?
Your card is never charged. If no inspector accepts your booking, the request auto-cancels, any saved card is released, and the lead is closed. No bill, nothing to dispute, no cleanup.
What if I need to cancel?
Cancel any time before an inspector has scheduled your inspection and nothing is charged. If your inspector cancels or we can't find you one, you pay nothing. Full cancellation terms are in our Terms of Service. Everything about your inspection runs through VehicleInspectors: if your assigned inspector offers to do it "directly" for less, say no — that work has no report guarantee, no dispute window and no payment protection, the full inspection fee is still charged to your card because the inspection was arranged through your booking, and we'd like to hear about it (confidentially).
How long do I have to dispute findings on the report?
You have 5 business days from report delivery to flag any issue. Open your tracking link and use the built-in dispute form — our team reviews within 48 hours and issues a full refund, partial refund, or dismisses with a written explanation.
What's included in each tier?
Every tier covers the whole vehicle and includes 25+ documented photos: body and paint, interior, under-hood, underbody, driveline, steering, suspension, brakes, exhaust, OBD-II scan, and a road test where the vehicle is street legal and safe. Bronze ($249) is that inspection at the lowest flat rate. Silver ($349) adds instrumented measurement: battery load test, brake pad and rotor measurement, and A/C and heater temperature readings. Gold ($449) adds everything in Silver plus an extended road test with live OBD-II data capture, a full electronics and infotainment audit, and paint-depth readings.
Do I need to provide a VIN to book?
No. VIN is optional at booking. We need the vehicle year, make, model, and ZIP at minimum — the inspector captures the VIN on site. If you have the VIN or the listing URL, it helps us match you with a specialty inspector faster (exotic, classic, RV).
What's your coverage area?
We dispatch inspectors within 50 miles of any US ZIP code. If no local inspector is available in the first round, we automatically widen the radius to 100 miles in round 2 and 150 miles in round 3 before auto-refund. Remote locations outside 150 miles are quoted case-by-case with a travel surcharge.
When is my card charged?
Not at booking. Your card is saved securely when you book, a hold is placed once a certified inspector schedules your inspection window, and you are only charged after the inspection is completed. If no inspector accepts, nothing is ever charged.
What are your inspectors’ qualifications?
Inspectors in the VehicleInspectors network are vetted automotive professionals — many hold active ASE certification, OEM/manufacturer training, or a state mechanic credential — and we review credentials and verify insurance coverage before an inspector takes their first dispatch. Your assigned inspector’s name and credential appear on your final report.
