The Process

How it works

Three steps. No phone tag.

  1. 1

    Book the inspection

Choose your tier, tell us about the vehicle, and authorize payment. Your card isn't charged until an inspector accepts the job.

  2. 2

    Inspector accepts within 24 hours

Certified inspectors in your area get a dispatch alert. First one to accept wins the job, contacts you + the seller, and schedules the on-site visit.

  3. 3

    Photo-documented report, same day

Full multi-point mechanical and visual inspection at the seller's location. You get the PDF report within 24 hours, with a 5-day dispute window.

Credentials

Who’s inspecting your vehicle

Every inspector in the VehicleInspectors network is ASE-certified, independently licensed, and carries their own liability insurance. We verify credentials annually.

Certification

ASE (National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence) certification required. Most of our roster holds Master Technician (A1–A9) or category-specialist certs.

Insurance

Every inspector carries commercial general liability ($1M), commercial auto ($300K), and errors & omissions ($500K) coverage.

Independence

Inspectors are independent contractors, not dealership employees. They have no financial interest in whether you buy the vehicle — only in telling you the truth.

Your assigned inspector’s name, company, phone, email, and ASE cert appear on your report and in your tracking page. No pseudonyms.

Questions

Pricing & booking FAQ

Everything buyers ask before booking. Still have questions? (757) 618-2938.

How fast can you dispatch an inspector?
Most inspections are scheduled within 24 to 48 hours of booking. Same-day service is available in select metro areas when booked before 10am local time. You get emailed as soon as an inspector accepts — usually within a few hours.
What's your refund policy if no inspector accepts?
Nothing — you never entered a card. If no inspector accepts your booking, the request auto-cancels and the lead is closed. No bill, no authorization to release, no cleanup.
How long do I have to dispute findings on the report?
You have 5 business days from report delivery to flag any issue. Open your tracking link and use the built-in dispute form — our team reviews within 48 hours and issues a full refund, partial refund, or dismisses with a written explanation.
What's included in each tier?
Bronze ($249) covers visual + operational checks and the photo report. Silver ($349, most popular) adds OBD-II scan, road test, battery load test, brake measurement, A/C performance, and undercarriage + suspension inspection. Gold ($449) adds an extended road test with live OBD-II data capture, a full electronics + infotainment audit, detailed paint/body documentation, 90+ photos, and priority dispatch.
Do I need to provide a VIN to book?
No. VIN is optional at booking. We need the vehicle year, make, model, and ZIP at minimum — the inspector captures the VIN on site. If you have the VIN or the listing URL, it helps us match you with a specialty inspector faster (exotic, classic, RV).
What's your coverage area?
We dispatch inspectors within 50 miles of any US ZIP code. If no local inspector is available in the first round, we automatically widen the radius to 100 miles in round 2 and 150 miles in round 3 before auto-refund. Remote locations outside 150 miles are quoted case-by-case with a travel surcharge.
When is my card charged?
No card at booking. Once a certified inspector schedules your inspection window, we email you a secure payment link and charge then. If no inspector schedules, you’re never billed and never asked for a card.
Are your inspectors ASE certified?
Yes. Every inspector in the VehicleInspectors network holds active ASE certification, carries commercial general liability ($1M), commercial auto ($300K), and errors & omissions ($500K) insurance. We verify credentials annually. Your assigned inspector’s name and cert appear on your final report.
